Optimizing Your Wi-Fi Environment
Overview
GRAN EYE transmits camera footage to the app via Wi-Fi and calculates scores. If you experience issues such as Camera not found or Score not updating, your Wi-Fi environment may need adjustment.
Common Causes
Using a 5GHz network
Incompatible router settings
Unsupported Wi-Fi configuration
Supported Wi-Fi
✓ 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n)
The app and camera must communicate on the same network.
⚠️ If your router has Client Isolation or AP Isolation enabled, the connection will fail.
For Wi-Fi 6 router users
n some cases, the connection may succeed but the video will not display.
For details, please see Important Notes for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Routers
Unsupported Wi-Fi
Note | |
|---|---|
✗ 5GHz Wi-Fi | Only 2.4GHz is supported |
✗ Guest networks | Guest SSIDs restrict device-to-device communication |
✗ WPA3 only networks | WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode is supported |
✗ IPv6 only environments | IPv4 must be available |
⚠️ Always use a standard 2.4GHz SSID
Recommended Router Settings
Separate SSID: 2.4GHz / 5GHz
Example: Home_WiFi_2G and Home_WiFi_5G
WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode encryption
Example: WPA2-PSK or WPA2/WPA3-Personal
IPv4 support enabled
Standard home routers with fiber-optic internet typically support this.
Mesh Wi-Fi with explicit 2.4GHz SSID selection
Ensure your mesh system allows you to connect to the 2.4GHz band directly.
⚠️ Setting names vary by router model (e.g., Smart Connect, Band Steering)
Check your router documentation to confirm you can select the 2.4GHz band.
